We are Ellie and Finn Healy and we are both young event riders based in Derbyshire. Both Finn and I started riding before we could walk as it was easier for Mum to have us sat on a pony than not.

We have been extremely lucky to have all our mums experience as she has ridden to old 3* level and has always produced her own horses. Finn and I always aspired to the Pony riders older than us and we used to sit watching YouTube videos of the Pony Europeans on repeat so from as soon as we were old enough to start BE we knew Pony Trials was our aim!

In August 2014 we bought a just backed 4yr old connamara pony who I named Casper. From the day he arrived I knew he was going to be mine even though mum wasn’t convinced due to how green he really was! I began Eventing him as a 5yr old in March 2015, we were selected for the U18 100 championships in 2016, the U18 2* championships in 2017 and after a successful year of Pony Trials in 2018 I was selected for the Pony European Team where we won Team Gold.

Sadly after 4 incredible years together I was out of ponies at the end of 2018 so Finn then took over the ride and went on to be selected for the Pony Europeans in Poland in 2019 where he won Team and Individual Gold for team GB.

Due to Coronavirus Finn didn’t get his second shot at a team on Casper but he now has an amazing new home whilst we are both now on horses. At the end of 2019 we bought two 4yr olds (Wilson and Freddie) for me, in 2020 they both started Eventing with Wilson being placed in 7/9 events and qualified for the 5yr old Championships at Oasby where he jumped double clear. The 2021 season has started well with Wilson winning Oasby BE100, Fred picking up 5th in the BE100 at Frickley and Finn has placed 3rd, 11th and 1st in Novices so far on his horse Promise which he rides for an owner. As the season has got going Wilson made the step up to Novice successfully and Freddie has jumped 3 more double clears at BE100. Finn and Promise managed to get qualified for the British National Junior Championships at Belsay where they finished a fabulous 6th place.

This year I am hoping to qualify Wilson and Freddie for the 6yr old Championships at Osberton at the end of September and Finn hopes to qualify another ride of his for this championship too as well as aiming Promise for the East Midlands U18 2* Team and Bishop Burton as well as trying to find him a young horse to produce up the levels with Young riders in mind. Our ultimate aim is to produce horses to senior teams and ride around Badminton and Burghley. My mum has used Jump 4 Joy fences since they were very first made and we got our set for Christmas 8 years ago and they have allowed us to train to the level we needed to to achieve what we wanted to. We are extremely excited to be joining team Jump 4 Joy.
